Chapter ONE Who am I

I am the father of a very large family group, widely dispersed around the country. This Family;y group began June 19, 1934, "Juneteenth" in a small community near Mobile, Eight Mile Alabama. My Father was raised nearby in Semmes and my Mother was from Selma. We stayed there till I was about 4 when we moved to Beaumont TX. My Father was a Seaman in the Merchant Marines, and his Job was on Tankers sailing out of the Gulf coast. Needless to say I do not remember much about that time period. I can start remembering things from about 4-5 and they are vague. But it was a happy time as I recall and had my upsets. I remember reading Superman comics and decided to put on a cape, (towel) and proceed to jump off the garage roof. I guess you know that it didn't work and got a sprained ankle for my troubles. Lesson one try it on the ground first, if "UP UP and Away" doesn't work, forget it!
My best friend, "Tutty", Charles Woolman lived down the street and we did normal things little kid do. Wade in the water puddles with new shoes, climb in our favorite tree, A huge sycamore in a nearby vacant lot. This tree was awesome, sturdy limbs spaced around the tree, just right for climbing and swinging from branch to branch "Tarzan" style, I guess we did OK I don't remember getting hurt. Well anyway, the only hurting I got was from the little switch my Mother would make me get off the bush to switch me with. If I did something wrong I would have to pick a switch bring it to her and she would switch my legs, we wore short pants and my legs were easy to get to. "she would say, better not get the wrong switch! The switching was a real stinging "whipping" I think it would have been better for my feelings to have been whipped with a leather strap.
Lasting memories of that time were many, one of my favorite, "Tutty" lived down the street in a huge house with his Mother, Grandmother and Uncle (the town drunk) in the winter we would come in out of the cold, his Grandmother always had huge sugar cookies in the kitchen, we would sit at this long "really long" table she would put a plate of cookies and a big mug of coffee, of course the coffee had to be yellow with cream (real from raw milk) and enough sugar to make you sick, but it was good.
I started school, Ogden, in 1940 and started a whole new chapter in my life. We lived about to or twelve blocks (long) from school and a I learned after the first few days how to walk to school, rain or not I would put on my coat, rain coat and start walking sack lunch in hand picking up friends on the way, dragging our feet, you only had to be late once, You just don't want to go through that "talking to" again. Fun times Learning, getting crush on teachers, pulling little girls hair and anything else to kill time. Time is short. memories are forever. In 1943 Mom and Dad bought a Home on Terrell and a new chapter in my life started. My dad was "at sea" most of the time, it was Mom, myself and My baby brother Jim. Later!

11-11-11, has a real important tag attached to it. 11th day of the 11th month of the 1911th year was the end of all wars to end all wars! No! not really, just the end of WW1. Since then we have had to defend our freedom many times, if we ever stop we lose and become a third world nation.

In November 2007 I published a piece about Armistice day 11-11-1911. Now after almost 5 years I notice my Blog did not go un-noticed, Since that post there have been 1410 views, A far cry from a majority but at least I know 1410 Patriot's clicked or read it. Thank you, lets save our Nation.

Marrage at SEA

Circa: 1976/1977, Bolivar Ferry (OLD) R S Sterling. Asa Trahan, Sheila Keraey and Dale Henderson

     In another life and another time, my wife and I were friends of this couple, and I was a good friend of the local JP Asa Trahan of Pt Arthur TX. Dale Henderson was my Instructor Pilot at Jefferson County Airport.
     It's true they wanted to get Married in Galveston. Not knowing what to expect we as a joke told him , why not let the Capt of the ferry Marry you two? Great, he's captain of a ship right, let's do it.
     Well checking we found the ferry boat captain could not perform the ceremony, OK Plan B, We called Judge Trahan and he said he would do it, but he needed some lead time.
     All of us got together and decided on a date contacted the Judge and it was set. Now the day arrived and all the party was to meet the Judge at the ferry at a certain time. That time came the ferry was not crowded so we all got as close as possible and after the ferry left Bolivar, The Judge performed the ceremony and at the end he was signing the certificate A Seagull "POOPED" and landed on the certificate! How many people can say their marriage license was witnessed by a Seagull.
     We all left the ferry and went to GAIDO'S for a Wedding Lunch, goodbyes were said they left for their Honeymoon at the Galvas Hotel. we came home and continued our lives knowing we had witnessed a Marriage at sea, for better or worse.
     NOTE; Later in life My present wife and I Were Married by the same JP, Asa Trahan, A very good and fair man, may he rest in peace, he passed away shortly after he performed our ceremony.
     Guess that ends this story.

Memories never go away

While I was in the army and stationed near Kwangju Korea, A Catholic father was befriended by our unit and during my 18 months there, we often met the priest and helped him with supplies. we visited his church and attended his Mass many times. I think his name was Woods, it is possible he was one of the Survivors of the Japanese occupation of Korea. I seem to remember him talking of his ordeals with the Japanese. He was the type of person not to talk ill of them, just that they were cruel and demanding.

The end of World War II he was stationed Near Kwangju in South western Korea where he died many years later.

I wrote to the Columban fathers headquarters and this is what I received.

Thank you for your reply, I was in the Kwangju area from June 1955 to Nov 1956. If my memory serves me correctly, he was from Ireland, He was a big man, not Fat and had a somewhat red face at times. His church and Rectory was on the outskirts of Kwangju. He had a Motorcycle with side car, that appeared to be almost as old as he was. He would visit us regularly and hold a mass and have meals with us. He loved the outdoors and would take us Hunting at times. He made a very good impression on me and most of the other men. The Name Fr R Woods has stuck in my head all these years. Every time I think of him I have a warm feeling, and Know that he is in Heaven

I’m sure you are referring to Columban missionary, Rev. Frank L. Woods, originally from Ireland. You are not the first to inquire about him, as I looked through his file, there were many letters from Korean War Veterans asking about the friendly, Irish priest they met in Kwangju, and I am pleased to send the following information. The Columban Fathers still have a presence in Korea and we ask for your prayers as we continue our work there.

Father Woods, who served as auxiliary chaplain with the U.S. second Division in Korea, and was officially designated a Sergeant during the Korean conflict. He holds the U. S. Medal of freedom, highest military decoration awarded to a person not a citizen of the United States.

It’s amazing, the Memories of this Man of God has stuck with me all these years, I may go years and not think of him, then it’s gone again. His influence was very strong on everyone he met. Surely he is enjoying his retirement in Heaven.

Last year about this time, I posted this scrap of paper, a copy of "THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE". Even though My Blog is not written by a gifted scholar, these words were written over 200 years ago by those seeking freedom. Freedoms which we have enjoyed over the years and we have prospered. But now it seems that only a handful (as in 1776) are willing to sacrifice and protect our constitution. So many are busy having fun enjoying what we have worked for and our country has given to us, are too busy to see there are ones who want to take away our Country and before all of us, watch it crumble into a mass of rubble. So I say once again let us join together and take our nation back before we have NONE.

When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

THE FINAL INSPECTION

                                                                 WHAT IF?

Recently I came to appreciate how important growing up with Grand Parents near by was. You both become influenced by each other. Strong bonds are formed in a lifetime, and you can never think anything could have changed your lives.

Everyone at some point in life looks at their life situation, and wishes he had done something different during his life, Today is yesterday’s tomorrow and cannot be changed, only remembered. Only in Science Fiction can someone alter the past, THEN find that for them, the entire world has changed. As we grow older, we appreciate the fact that nothing we or our ancestors could have changed and “ME” being here or any of my offspring’s.

Think about it, My Father William F Lowery Sr, had Polio (infantile paralysis) when he was a small child, Had he not lived there would be no ME, or my two brothers. If you look at the overall total number of children that would be missing.

Ok maybe that he didn’t die but for some reason Lois Etta Buckelew died as a child, almost the same but possibly I would be on earth but not “ME”. With each previous generation I could go on and on, the same result.

I guess I am saying, the decisions in my life were made and the results acted on, The things I did in life cannot be changed nor would I want to change them. In doing so I would deprive myself and other family members the pride of being a Lowery.

I truly thank GOD that he looked over all my ancestors in the past and kept them safe so that I would be here to Know My Children, Grand children, and Great Grand Children. GOD willing I will see there children also.

Sweet Tooth

SUGAR CANE

I guess you could call this A “SWEET” Story! Once again early AM, first cup of coffee listening to talk radio, I had another memory “jog”, I don’t know why sugar cane popped into my head but while it has travelled back in time, I might as well use it.

My childhood was I guess as normal as possible for a young family in the late 1930’s and early 1940’s. Families were trying to make it in a time coming out of the “Great Depression”. Many Families moved far away in order to make it, such was our case.

We moved from Mobile Alabama, (Eight Mile) to Beaumont Texas in 1938, I was about 4 and the family consisted of Me, “Momma Lois”, and “Daddy Ford”. Being so young my memory is not that good.. My Dad Was a Merchant Seaman and he left on the ship and returned two or three weeks later to the same port, I got to see him two or three times a month, that’s another story.

This is just one of many tales I could tell, and as time goes on I’ll add some more. My Mother “Momma Lois” and I traveled to Mobile to see the old “FOLKS’. In order to get there we traveled by train. Mom packed a lunch and we went to the train station, got on the train. Then most everyone rode the train, some times a short trip from Beaumont to Lake Charles, and was usually full. The first leg was from Beaumont to New Orleans. There we transferred to another station across town and then on to Mobile. I am telling you this to let you know this trip was no luxury vacation, it was crowded and Hot.

Mobile arrival some how we got to Eight Mile and my aunt’s house where we would stay, I was young but it all seemed like fun so live it up while you can. The highlight of the trip was “eating” My aunt and Grand mother always had plenty to eat and it was “fattin” good. The other highlight was to go t Semmes and visit my great aunt Jule and Cammy. These visits I remember enough of to know I had enjoyed them. We had Cousins there we had only met and plenty of food. I’ll say the Lowery Klan always put on a good spread.. All the kids played hard and got into as much trouble as kids can do, and just little enough to escape the “SWITCH”.

The Kin folks lived on a farm and had for years since they came from Mississippi, and had not much but enough for the family and a little bit left over. This is really our story, Oh “How Sweet it was”.

They grew Sugar Cane as well as other crops but Cane syrup and sugar was there product.

In order to get the product, the cane was brought to the Mill, and the juice would be boiled (cooked off) the results were Syrup, then cane sugar. There was always the cane mill, cook shed, and a Mule or Horse. The put the cane into the mill the horse turned the mill and the juice went into a bucket. When the bucket was full, it was poured into the cooking tub and boiled. The Horse just kept going round and round, sometimes with a feed bag around his neck. It is at this point us Kids got into trouble, The output of the mill was a sickly green color with specks of the cane in it the kids would use a cup which hung by the spout and let the juice flow into the cup, Ok as Nasty as it looked, we downed the Juice. WOW was that good. Our Mamma’s would warn us “you gonna get sick”. Warnings unheeded we drank more. True to their word, Momma’s were right! Not only were we sick but the bad news was, in the country the outhouses usually were only one or two holers.

You cannot run far after a cup of cane juice.

Memeries of the past

Just sitting here thinking! I can still remember things long lost in the past. I have often had thoughts of which I should put on paper less they be lost in the darkness of the past.

As I think and compose these thoughts and memories, by no means will they be in order but Randomly picked from my memory as they emerge.

GREAT SMOKEY MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK

It was the Summer of 1960, we had been stationed at Redstone Arsenal Al since the Fall of 1959, we came to Redstone with two boys and another was born at the old hospital on the base. We lived in, on post housing which was built early WW2 and although old was still being used. Our Boys were 3, 2, and 1 give or take a little and my Wife was pregnant with our fourth (son). Enough said we had a full house each one a blessing. Oh! By the way we had a black cocker spaniel.

We had not had a vacation since we had arrived and decided to go to the Smokey's, fun times ahead.

The day arrived, we had loaded the car and were loading up the kids, Norman, Bill and Jim and no air conditioning. You have never traveled till you set out on a long trip in those conditions. We traveled all day and arrived about dark-thirty. It was too late to set up camp so we rented a room at the local park hotel. By this time everyone was tired and I know my wife and I had words by now, HOT. Sweaty, kids crying, we both probably thought why on earth did we do this?

Morning comes, everyone clean and dressed, ready for our adventure.

After breakfast we checked in at the Ranger station and got our campsite. We picked one in the center of the camp close to the activities (nature stuff). All in all the presentations the rangers gave were really interesting, however looking back I guess I enjoyed it more than my wife and the Kids.

As were on vacation, we needed to do some sightseeing, so we made a trip into Gatlinburg, at that time I guess you could call it a typical tourist trap, Shops with Indian stuff, totem poles, big Plastic Bears and all kinds of Indian stuff, I am sure the Kids enjoyed it all, but after a while they were burned out and ready to go, and so were Mom and Dad, so long Gatlinburg.

NOTE: Since this was 1960, The conditions and facilities at the Park were Primitive compared to the facilities there today, progress!

The rest of the “vacation” was spent driving around the Park just looking

We saw some Black Bears, took pictures and watched some Stupid people trying to hand feed the Bears. All in all it seemed as if everyone had a great time, although only myself and wife may remember the “vacation”. Now at 76, I look around at the Younger generation, some of the husbands are selfish and decide on vacations which they really want, and think not of the hardships on the children or wife. That is gone now and the best memory I have of the trip is the “Long walk”.

Cosby Campground is located on a gateway to the Appalachian trail. In order to get to the trail we had to Hike 2.5 miles on the low gap trail to our destination. At that point I was going to make up my mind if me and the dog would continue on Hiking “The Appalachian Trail”.

Well it was not a bad hike up to the trail, and we had water, some snacks and a map, “don’t forget the map”. The first leg, a little over two miles was not bad mostly up hill, My Dog and I did pretty well we would stop and look, the views were beautiful. The second segment was a little over two miles and followed a ridge line, we didn’t see any Bears and I guess that was a good thing as neither the dog or I had ever seen one close up. We did find blackberries and they were as sweet as strawberries, funny the Ranger had told us that besides being sweeter, the vines had no thorns above 3000 ft. by the time we reached the turn off we had exhausted our water and snacks, remember don’t eat salty snacks if you aint got plenty of water. Anyway I knew there was a water source ahead. Sure enough just after the turn off there was a very heavy flowing spring. The spring was quite large as in the past a large retaining pool was built and was about a foot or so deep, we were ready. Ok what do dogs do besides poop and pee, He went in and really cooled off. It felt good to take a break. The rest of the trail down a little over 5 miles was mostly down hill and it was late afternoon. And we had been gone about six or seven hours, we arrived at the end of “Snake Den Trail” in the campground and signed in. We were what you may say both “DOG tired”!

Next time, if ever again, I’ll wear better Shoes, should have brought my combat boots!

Happy days and remember as many memories as you can, they cannot be done over.

Just a short comment!

It seems to me that for the most part E-Mail is no longer "THE" way to communicate!
With the addition of "FACEBOOK", no one uses E-Mail except the SPAMMERS. Facebook is OK but it has reduced Communications to a word or two, no longer does many people even try to carry on a conversation any more.

Guess that's like the telephone!, before the telephone people wrote nice short notes or long descriptive letters, with the telephone short and long conversations took place. With the Internet, conversations have been reduced to short misspelled words short comments and announcements reference to on line games.

Internet, Facebook are great "BUT" oh well don't get me started on CELL phones and TEXTING.

Well guess I am just getting old, Technology is just overpowering my mind. But there is hope, I got a real letter the other day from a friend. All is not Lost.

LASER How fast time fly's!

In the early 1960's at Redstone Arsenal, a friend of mine was assigned to one of the research and development Labs. I did not really know what he did but knew he was an engineer (EE)

I had a Ceramic Chess set that was not level, and asked him if he knew any one (Labs) that had a grinding table that could flatten the bottoms of the chess pieces. It so happens that his lab had one and since it was Saturday, offered to take me out and take care of the chess set.

We got to the Lab, and took care of business and he wanted to know If I would like a demonstration of one of his experiments. Of course being a tech freak at that time, I said yes. We went into another room, turned on the lights and in the middle of the room sat a Huge steel box, maybe 8-10 feet long and 4-5 ft deep. On top of this gizmo was what looked like a long glass tube 3-4 inches in diameter and much longer than the steel box it was on. One end had coils (magnetic ?) and all along the length more coils. About 3-4 ft from the end of the tube was a fixture to hold a TARGET.

He turned on the machine inserted a Gillette "BLUE" blade in the target area. While the power supply was charging the Huge capacitor he explained that this (LASER) MASER, could only punch a hole in a Blue Blade, Nothing else. Now days you would need all kinds of protective equipment on to fire it. How did we know it was dangerous? Well he fired it, a very short flash and loud bang, WAL-AH, Look what we did, punched a hole in a razor blade the size of a pencil lead.

How about that, Tons of money to punch a hole in a razor blade, what a gift to mankind! Little did I realize that I had just witnessed a very early device we use every day now, THE LASER! Enjoy

A Look Back at 50 Years of Lasers

The first laser light was produced on May 16, 1960 at the Hughes Research Lab in Malibu, California when Theodore Maimen switched on his fist-sized device that flashed a bright red spot onto a photo-detector. Since then, lasers have become smaller, more powerful, and ubiquitous in modern technology.

WASHINGTON -- This weekend marks the 50th anniversary of the invention of the first working laser. Today, lasers can be found almost everywhere, from telephone lines to cutting edge scientific research, supermarket scanners, and even cat toys.

The first laser light was produced on May 16, 1960 at the Hughes Research Lab in Malibu, California when Theodore Maimen switched on his fist-sized device that flashed a bright red spot onto a photo-detector. Since then, lasers have become smaller, more powerful, and ubiquitous in modern technology.

"It's the invisible wheel. We so take it for granted now," said Tom Baer, the executive director of the Stanford Photonics Research Center, Palo Alto, California. "Half the [U.S] gross domestic product is impacted substantially by the laser."

Lasers have had an especially big impact on information technology. Sending data using digitized laser light signals over fiber optics has revolutionized the transfer of data. The IBM Roadrunner, the world's second fastest supercomputer, has over 45,000 lasers used for sending data across its 133,000 processing cores. Likewise, fiber optics make up the backbone of the Internet as nearly all data runs on fiber optic lines.

"Right now our whole economic infrastructure is based on information sent over fiber optics by lasers," Baer said. "If you shut down all the lasers, it would cripple our economy."

Other areas of the economy have been similarly affected. CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray discs all use lasers to read the information encoded on them. Laser cutters and welding torches play an integral role in manufacturing and machining goods. Lasik eye surgery is less invasive and painful than traditional eye surgeries. Researchers also think that a process that uses lasers to scan DNA will be the central to future technologies that can decode a human genome for cheap.

However, it was not always like this. In the '60s, Irnee D'Haenens, Maimen's assistant, often referred to the invention as "a solution looking for a problem." The product of basic research, no one quite knew how to turn the laser into a practical application.

"It took a long time before this became a matter of anything more than academic interest," said Jeff Hecht, author of several books about the history of lasers and optics.

Different research teams across the world had been competing to design and build the first working laser. Soon after Maimen completed his laser, researchers at other labs were able to build their own. These early lasers were powerful enough to shoot holes through metal, which soon turned into a minor arms race between the different teams vying to build the most powerful laser. The teams would measure the power of these early lasers based on the number of Gillette razor blades that the beams could shoot through.

"As production of these lasers became easier, people started looking at them for other purposes," Hecht said.

The development of different kinds of lasers took off soon after its invention. Researchers produced lasers that used a variety of materials such as helium-neon gas, carbon dioxide and semiconducting diodes.

Along with the development of new lasers came the first tentative forays into commercial applications. The first proof of concept that lasers could be used medicinally came in 1961 when Charles Campbell and Charles Koester used lasers to destroy a patient's eye tumor. In 1965, James Russell developed the first laser compact disc, a precursor to modern laser discs and CDs.

Once small and durable diode lasers could be mass-produced, starting in the '70s, commercial applications came fast. A supermarket bar code scanner read the price of a pack of Wrigley's gum in 1974. Consumer laser discs debuted in 1978 and CDs came two years later, and the first trans-Atlantic fiber optic cable carrying international phone calls were laid in 1988.

"I think the laser has essentially revolutionized in scientific research," said C. Kumar Patel, CEO of the laser spectroscopy firm Pranalytica in Santa Monica, California. Patel invented the first CO2 laser in 1963. "I know of very, very few scientific studies these days that don't use lasers in some way or another," Patel said.

Since their invention, 15 Nobel prizes in physics have used lasers as a critical component. In 1997, Secretary of Energy Dr. Steven Chu -- then a researcher at Stanford University -- was awarded the Nobel Prize for his work using lasers to optically trap and cool clouds of atoms to a fraction of a degree above absolute zero.

Last year's startup of the National Ignition Facility at Lawrence Livermore National Labs in California shows how lasers could provide cheap energy in the future. Researchers there hope to create a sustained fusion reaction by shining 192 of the world's most powerful lasers onto a small pellet of hydrogen. The amount of energy that results from the reaction should be greater than what it took to trigger it, a difference that researchers hope someday to harness.

"Scientists and engineers are looking at how to do things better, and how to do things that have never been done," said Patel. "The invention and development of lasers started off as a purely scientific activity and for a long time stayed as a scientific activity ... It takes a long time for an invention to mature and contribute to country's overall economic engine."

Bob's Story...
It is important for men to remember that, as women grow older, it becomes harder for them to maintain the same quality of housekeeping as when they were younger. When you notice this, try not to yell at them. Some are oversensitive, and there's nothing worse than an oversensitive woman.
My name is Bob. Let me relate how I handled the situation with my wife, Debbie. When I took "early retirement" last year, it became necessary for Debbie to get a full-time job along with her part time job, both for extra income and for the health benefits that we needed. Shortly after she started working, I noticed she was beginning to show her age. I usually get home from the golf course about the same time she gets home from work.
Although she knows how hungry I am, she almost always says she has to rest for half an hour or so before she starts dinner. I don't yell at her. Instead, I tell her to take her time and just wake me when she gets dinner on the table. I generally have lunch in the Men's Grill at the club so eating out is not reasonable. I'm ready for some home cooked grub when I hit that door.
She used to do the dishes as soon as we finished eating. But now it's not unusual for them to sit on the table for several hours after dinner. I do what I can by diplomatically reminding her several times each evening that they won't clean themselves. I know she really appreciates this, as it does seem to motivate her to get them done before she goes to bed.
Another symptom of aging is complaining, I think. For example she will say that it is difficult for her to find time to pay the monthly bills during her lunch hour. But, boys, we take 'em for better or worse, so I just smile and offer encouragement. I tell her to stretch it out over two or even three days. That way she won't have to rush so much. I also remind her that missing lunch completely, now and then wouldn't hurt her any (if you know what I mean). I like to think tact is one of my strong points.
When doing simple jobs, she seems to think she needs more rest periods. She had to take a break when she was only half finished mowing the yard. I try not to make a scene. I'm a fair man. I tell her to fix herself a nice, big, cold glass of freshly squeezed lemonade and just sit for a while. And, as long as she is making one for herself, she may as well make one for me too.
I know that I probably look like a saint in the way I support Debbie. I'm not saying that showing this much consideration is easy. Many men will find it difficult. Some will find it impossible! Nobody knows better than I do how frustrating women get as they get older. However, guys, even if you just use a little more tact and less criticism of your aging wife because of this article, I will consider that writing it was well worthwhile. After all, we are put on this earth to help each other.....

The Irish are a resilient mob! Not only are they able to take the mickey out of themselves, but they take little, if any, offence at being the brunt of the myriad jokes at their expense.

It’d be a dull old world without the Irish! Without the Irish, we’d be sadly lacking in jokes for one thing! (Where would I be? My gene tree is a blend of Irish and Scottish – not denim as you thought)!

I’ve sorted through my mass collection of Celtic music; polished my dancing shoes to a mirror sheen in readiness for a dose of “Riverdance” to get my heart a-pumping and feet a-tapping; spruced up my Donegal tweed jacket, and sent a text to my leprechaun mate! And I’ve just remembered I have an LP of bagpipe music somewhere! Did you know the Irish invented the bagpipes, and then they gave them to the Scots as a joke? The Scots haven’t seen the joke, yet!

As for St. Patrick – it’s legendary that he chased the snakes out of Ireland, but what the Irish don’t tell us is that St. Pat was the only one who saw the snakes!!! I wonder what he’d been drinking! I’ll hazard a guess by saying too much Guinness or Bushmills! The tenacious Irish are a lyrical mob, poetic by nature, musical by instinct; inherently comical!

Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli took a gutsy and intelligent step Feb. 17 when he petitioned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to reconsider its ill-advised "finding" that carbon dioxide creates an endangerment for human health. The endangerment finding would let the EPA battle alleged global warming by regulating emissions of CO2, which of course is the gas that every animal and person exhales with every breath.

In a speech setting out the administration's arms-control agenda, Mr. Biden also said the United States will continue to pursue President Obama's call for the elimination of all U.S. nuclear arms, but defended spending $7 billion in the coming year to repair an aging arsenal.

Amid a euphoria unimaginable just a year ago, activists Thursday at the largest conservative gathering in the country plotted how to ride the "tea party" wave to sweeping Republican victories in this year's elections - and to force the GOP to govern as conservatives after the vote.

But on the opening day of the biggest-ever Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), the tenuous relationship among conservatives, tea party activists and the Republican Party establishment was also repeatedly on display. Its beginning to look like Christmas

I remember years ago, in Beaumont, Going to the woods and chopping down a real tree bringing it home and putting up and waiting for all the goodies that go with it. During those years, My Father had built a tree roting device which had a crank on the outside of the box and he had carved an ELF, which would look like it turned the tree, what a wonderful device that was we used it for many years and then it was retired.
As I grew older and had my family, each year was an event to insure that we all celebrated Christmas and with the exception of not being able to cut our own tree nothing changed Christmas was fun and Food. To look back, we had many years of Christmas cheer. As our boys left to raise their own familys Christmas was still a joyus time of the year. It is now 2009 coming up on 2010. What has changed? Just the addition of My Family If I am correct there are 6 Boys, fifteen grand children, and twelve great grand children, to all of them I wish you a very merry Christmas and a Happy new year.

As promised, Bill, Liz and the rest of the Band from the past, got together for another picking and singing get together at the Bayview Duck in Bayview Texas. It all started about 7:30 PM Saturday.

If you do not know, The "DUCK" is not a huge PUB, but have plenty of seating, a good kitchen and a walk in cooler for all the different foamy beverages you may desire. Last night I counted only about 10 or 12 chairs open. The air was clear, the customers were listening and conversing with their friends, and after every piece played, loud ovations erupted, and “The Band Played on”

This wonderful structure survived the Korean War, (police action) (?)

At some time in our recent past it burned, not to worry the wonderful people of KOREA rebuilt it.

She was not house broken, but now she is getting better, no accidents for a week now, she runs around in circles and lets you know she is ready.
Science diet light, small bites. Loves attention, needs to be loved. She is not very good with kids and since she has always been around seniors and adults usually runs and hides when a kid approach her, she was never house broken, but she is learning. Good Evening

Annetta called us a couple of weeks ago and said she and Joe were getting married. Lis and I jumped a plane and met them at the courthouse in Oxnard California Friday afternoon. Annetta and Joe Ramos were married by the Justice of the Piece and add Joey and Linda to our ever growing number of grandchildren. Anneta will be getting out of the Navy next month and after Joe gets out in October, they will be moving to Dallas to begin the next chapter of their life.

First of all, Happy New Year to your family. The Band sounds good. I know they get a kick out of playing, I guess Making money is a good idea but having fun is the most important thing.
Thought I would share this with you and you may share with who you please, My Number 2 son Raised four children, two boys and two girls, The oldest boy went into the Navy as did the youngest Daughter, and youngest Son. The oldest Daughter stayed in Texas to Raise Girls, a great mother. But that's not the story.
When they all left their job done they started their own fun life. They already had a small Celtic group, called "Kellee" They played at local Irish Pubs around Houston. The didn't make money but really had fun.
They moved away from Houston and ended up in Grenville SC and found that area had a Large group of Lowery's, some where down the line in time were "KIN".
He also found places he and Liz could practice and play their skills and share their music, as before, they don't make much money but they are happy and having fun.
Most of all they know that they have raised great kids who are now trying to do the right thing in the world and be happy hard working fun loving people.

Momma cow and calf are doing fine and Bessie will be back to the milking in about six to eight weeks. Ain’t that great folks?

LUSH: Oh this is really exciting, Over night, Mrs. O’Leary’s cow turned over a lantern and burned down almost two blocks, they tried hard to save the cow but it was pronounced dead at the scene. In addition to the cow multiple injuries were reported as well as massive property damage. A quote from their community organizer “We are gonna to change the way we milk cows around here and the city is going to rebuild all the damage.” Wow, ain’t that great folks you all are going to get new housed and won’t have to pay a dime. One great guy there!

LUSH: Now in closing another tradgy occurred this morning,, Little Tommy Fudpucker was on his way to our organizer’s office with their order of Watermelon and Fried Chicken, and was run down and killed by a beer truck, pity that, poor little Tommy had already paid for the stuff, now his family is going to have to make it up.

Senator Barack Obama has declared war --on everything important to Conservative Americans.
Don't believe me???

Capitalism: Barack Obama has declared war on capitalism, and capital.
Obama has described his plan to hike taxes as "neighborliness," "patriotism" and "justice." In fact, it's the widest-ranging assault on capital — and those who create it — in at least a generation, possibly longer.

Look at just a few of the things he and congressional Democrats have in mind: Higher taxes on successful entrepreneurs (anyone earning over $250,000), higher taxes on capital gains, higher taxes on dividends, a possible raid on Americans' 401(k)s, a takeover of America's private health care industry, strict new limits on what CEOs can make, and the re imposition of the death tax.
Add it up, and Obama will usher in a new era in America — one where capital, the engine of our economic growth and success, is punished severely through the tax code. If Democrats win a filibuster-proof majority in Congress, it'll be the only form of capital punishment their party will support.

FREEDOM OF SPEECH: Joe Biden experiences some honest uncomfortable questions and war on free speech is declared. The Obama campaign refused any further contact or interviews with WFTV in Florida after Barbara West asked some questions voters might actually like to hear answers to. (video)

Personal Responsibility: Barack Obama has declared war on personal responsibility and plans to turn America into even more of a welfare state than it already is. His plans will make more Americans dependent on government for their needs and wants.
Look at the "tax cut" he says he'll give to 95 percent of Americans. In fact, this is simply a government check he'd hand out - including to millions who don't pay income taxes, since each year 38 percent of Americans already get a full refund.In other words, his "rebate" is a welfare plan, plain and simple.

Illegal Immigration: Barack Obama has declared war on those who want secure borders and only legal citizens of this great country eligible for her benefits. He wants illegal immigrants inside the United States to be given citizenship. But before that happens, he wants them eligible for all that America provides, including Social Security.

WAR ON TERROR: Barack Obama has planned from the beginning to cut and run from Iraq. He wants to pull the troops our before complete victory is achieved. Obama even tried to negotiate with the Iraqis against American troops and American interests, and against Iraqi interests:

Obama has not only opposed victory in Iraq, but also has actively worked to undermine it. When he finally met with Iraqi officials in July, he asked them to delay an agreement on a phased withdrawal of American forces based on conditions on the ground.

According to Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, Obama said it was in the interests of both sides not to have a long-term security agreement negotiated by the Bush administration in its "state of weakness and political confusion."

As a result, he will take an axe to America’s defenses at the very time when they need to be built up. He has said he will ‘cut investments in unproven missile defense systems’; he will ‘not weaponize space’; he will ‘slow our development of future combat systems’; and he will also ‘not develop nuclear weapons,’ pledging to seek ‘deep cuts’ in America’s arsenal, thus unilaterally disabling its nuclear deterrent as Russia and China engage in massive military buildups. FREE AND HONEST ELECTIONS: Using groups like ACORN with long-time connections to Obama, funding by Obama (and friends), the 2008 election may be the first truly stolen election. Obama wants to take away worker's rights to private votes when it comes to Unions, thus allowing pressure from Union workers and co-workers. War has basically been declared against one-person -- one-vote in this election.

Apparently, a self-important college freshman attending a recent football game took it upon himself to explain to a senior citizen sitting next to him why it was impossible for the older generation to understand his generation. 'You grew up in a different world, actually an almost primitive one', the student said, loud enough for many of those nearby to hear. 'The young people of today grew up with television, jet planes, space travel, man walking on the moon. Our space probes have visited Mars. We have nuclear energy, ships and electric and hydrogen cars, cell phones , computers with light-speed processing...and more. 'After a brief silence, the senior citizen responded as follows: 'You're right, son. We didn't have those things when we were young........so we invented them. Now, you arrogant little shit, what are you doing for the next generation? 'The applause was amazing.......

It's been a long haul, but we are well on our way to the end of our journey. Not Death, but what we have been searching for all of our lives.
Everyone in our family has and have had our share of Little problems which seem so HUGE at the time but in the end we look back and see how really small they were. The Master did not promise us an easy way, only that he gives us the ability to cope with and get over the problems.

"I have done so much with so little, that now I can do anything with nothing."

This was taken 1997 at some time, It was her last time to tour the Lake Charles Casinos before she got sick and passed away. The last 6 to 8 months before Mom got sick she made regular trips to lake Charles to PLAY, This was her last trip and while there won $1500.00 on the quarter slots
Her Whole life while I was growing up, she loved Bingo, The early days her and her friends would drive to Lake Arthur for the bingo games.
After my brother Jim was settled in California she would fly to Santa Clara and take the bus to Lake Tahoe to pull the levers. I believe that she never won a bunch, but that was not her Goal, her goal was to enjoy what she was doing.
I am sure where she is, My Mom and all her friends are gathered around the Bingo Cards or Pulling the Levers.
Just sorry I did not spend more time with Her.

Here it is 2007 already, my my! where has the time gone? If you find any extra, please let me know I could use a little, to make up for the time I have lost after this last Hip Surgery! Hip surgery went just fine, but the rest of he old body started falling apart. No big problems just a bunch of little ones caused by maybe years of neglect.
That out of the way on to this new fresh year. The end of the year saw Ed and Mariannes Son Ford another year older, yep: He no longer is a little boy, He is now officialy a TEENAGER! Ford, I just want you to know that I would not want to be a teenager again, too many rules and regulations to keep up with, But this just gets you ready for the real world you will be going out into one day, and really before yu know it, Love you and Happy Birthday.

Well Kids Some time in the 70's before 1978, The series of 5 Planet of the apes was to show in both the drive in north of Beaumont and the drive in near Pt Arthur were showing all 5 in an all nighter.

Well we got a bunch of drinks couple bags "grocery" size with Pop Corn, Blankets, Pillows and headed to the drive-in for a night of it.

Well the North Drive in was closed, so we drove to the Pt Arthur Drive-in, it was closed too. Well we went home and had a TV Party, not as good as Planet of the Apes but we had a good time.

Found out later they closed for good that day, and never re-opened, too bad, a lot of memories in those Drive-ins.

Now what in the wide wide world of sports has this got to do with 2007 new years Blog? Well finally after about 30 years, I am watching all 5 Planet of the Apes movies once again, only this time without you Kids and the 1972 Ford Wagon. I love you all and Happy New Year!

When he got out of the army, he went to Sea, with the merchant Marines, as did my other uncle and my Father. During the war they served on ships loaded with anything our military needed both in the Atlantic and Pacific, My father was on a coast tanker, and received a Cast Guard rating of commander. We Thank them for their Service.

These are some of my new friends, It appears that Animal's can only be your friends, Meet Roger Roo, Abby Normal and Smiley Gatto.

I thought I would send these guys over there but the military would probably take them and use them, so, I'll just leave them on the Mexican Border.

Well as hard as I tried with all the Kiss Ass I did with the Navy, We ended up with a little proplem with our Body Guards. Certain actions were taken against them because Rocky was not Navy, So Netta sent them under cover, they can do more better there. Any way since their previous owner was a Warrant officer In the Army they don't get mad they get even! Well they can do better in 4 months back in the land of fruit and nuts They know how to take care of the Good, Bad Guys.

Well, ya'll, I hate to say it, but Bill has gotten a job transfer to Greenville, South Carolina. It saddens us to leave the area, but we are only a keystroke away from each other. We have found a house and we think we will be happy. The neighbors are nice and the mountains are only 30-45 minutes away. Annetta is checked out, The body guards are on the job, every one is well fed and alert. The Guards are well taken care of so please dont try to send food to the guards, they are fine. Send stuff to netta that you think she might like. NO PORK OR PORK PRODUCTS, and above all no real pigs or monkeys or dogs. We may be Infedels but they ain't got any sense of humor (sic).

Also somewhere in the past, I think her sister? had a birthday and was turned loose with a big piece of cake!!! you guessed it se picture.

Also a watermelon had been spiked, and after a long cooling off period, it was outstanding, no way of telling how many shots per slice.

Quack, quack, croak, croak, Yes sir-ree Bob A real frog choker today! The little pee-wee Storm paid us a visit today, on the wet side is always Bad. Corpus got off lucky today but we really got a bunch of water, and the crazies were out in full force "Didn't realize how deep the water was, It was barely to the center of the 18 wheeler tire!! DUH? Seems to me when some of these people see water, they are like the little kid, just gotta play in it.

Well I didn't want to play in it but had a Dr Appt at noon. I didn't have any trouble getting from my house to the Med Center of Houston, Had there not been so many stupid people out in the rain trying to flood out it would have been a nice ride. Cut to the chase, I found the Dr's Building and across the street was a pay as you go Parking lot, pulled in paid my money and started toward the building across the street, 100 ft tops, wadeing with cane, carrying umbrella, pouring rain! at the curb no on could care less that someone that condition was trying to cross the street. Yep you guessed it, This B***h in a little car at seemed like 50 MPH, You got it, took my 2nd shower for the day. Had I been able to get her lic Number about now I would be sending her a nasty graham instead of telling you. OK now clear, hobbled across street up the ramp and got to the Doctor office on time.

The nurse asked me how the buildings garage was and was I happy? Guess hindsight next time will be a lesson learned. I now know, In three months, I'll try again.

The whole office visit was enjoyable, the staff was friendly, the nurse was efficient and the Doctor about my age, was really informative. He read my report from other tests and made notes, checked my hands, wrist joints heart, lungs and we had a really good conversation about life and health. I poured out everything I have gone through the last year (not feeling sorry for my self) just the doctors, the tests, the hospital etc. I added that without my bride of 25 years I would have in most cases would have been helpless, or nearly so. We both hit it off right off.

Long story short (OK lets get it over with) He told me you seem to be in pretty good shape medically I can't see anything serious , We will look at you again in three months. We will run some more test, " only the ones that are necessary" Then we will treat something, you may clear up by then .

Well any way made me feel that it's all worth it today, "GOD please help me get back across town, Amen!

This is another short one, but it's better than nothing, at least there ain't no dirt in my face!

Just a little Humor, I noticed an article about a couple in Arkansas, had their 17th rug rat! and were looking for more, (groan). Well thinking of the Beginning, (We started in Arkansas) 1957, we left. I relayed this fact to your Mother (yes we talk on the net) She gave me a reply to the effect thumbs up to getting out of there, We Did enough damage on our own away from there. My Answer to her I wouldn't have changed a thing! At times in life, as a couple, your job there is done!

Your Mother as well as myself are very proud of all of you and are glad it all happened as it has.

Now for a RANT RANT RANT!

AMERICA, is not made up of Heards of "Sheeple" We have come too far to let anyone take our culture we have worked hard for, AND TAKE US BACK to the 14th century and live worse than our fore fathers did while we were building this great nation. I don't think we were ever that bad.

It's is time to take our Nation Back, It seems our (LEADERS?) are giving everyone else, everything they demand, and write a check on our bank account.

Thank you for keeping me posted on all the happening of the Lowery Tribe. I miss you all and am sorry Ron and I were not able to come out to TX this summer. I do hope we get to come for a visit next year. This winter we are planning a long trip home to the Philippines and my family (Dorrie, Tom and Mike) will be joining us for a second wedding out there will all of his family. Here are some pictures from our wedding and from the honeymoon (we went to Puerto Rico for 1 week) I am now working and living in Boston. My home address is 10 Harbor Point Blvd, Apt 102, Boston MA 02125. We are settling into married life quite nicely and we are looking forward to a long and happy life together. Well that is all for now. I hope you are feeling well and recovering from all your surgeries well. I am keeping you and Nacncy and all our family in my prayer. God Bless!!

Hey everyone I know it has been a long time since some of us have been in touch but I wanted to share the good news and the photos of my recent marriage to the man of my dreams. His name is Ronald (Ron) Olofernes and we got married on May 26th. It was very much a love at first sight relationship. We were introduced in late Feb and married by May. It was an amazing couple of month during our courtship and now marriage is even better than I even could have hoped or dreamt. God is so faithful in answering our prayers when we are faithful in asking Him for what we desire instead of trying to get it through our own knowledge and ways. His ways are higher than our ways and He knows us better than we even know our selves. I can tell you that Ron is my every desire come true and I pray that your will receive the gift of love through our Lord Jesus Christ the way I have. Ron and I live in Boston, MA and we both are working for Ernst & Young, which is an accounting firm. Ron is a CPA and I am an Executive Assistant here. We will be traveling to the Philippines (where Ron is from) in late November for a second wedding celebration with all of his family. His parents and his 4 brothers and sisters are still living there in a very remote island. I am very excited to meet my in-laws for the first time and all his extended family. He said I will be the first American woman to visit his island that he knows of so it will be a big deal for the whole village. Please pray for our safe travels during our long journey. I know some of you may have heard there are some parts of the Philippines that are unsafe for Americans to visit. I am glad to report that his island is not close to where that is going on and we will not be traveling near any of those hostile areas. A New Direction in Life

Well folks, there are times in life when families move on. Ben Beth and the kids, are taking up their Mom and Pop's place in Texas City and continue the work in the church which Beth grew up in. My Son Bill and his Wife Liz have taken a new Job in Greenville South Carolina. It's a Promotion for him as he will be working for the same mother company, just away from here and a long way away.

I got a call from William (Terry) his ship was in Singapore for a port call and are heading home to Hawaii, should be home by middle of August. He sounded good and told me he had tons of pictures for me, When I get them, I will share them with you all to enjoy.

Another call this morning Annetta called while waiting in line to turn in here Cable box, Just to Say By for now, tomorrow she leaves for a long flight to Kuwate, She will be there for six months then back to California for a year and then hopefuly to Guam again. She sounded up-beat and told me to tell af you she enjoyed the reunion in June, My how time flies by. Our Prayers go with her for a speedy and safe return.

Reunion 07 was again a success, considering we were able to make it! I brought Ford, and Annetta, she flew in from California to visit her family and also to come to the reunion. I made a round robin , Texas City to Lake Charles to Linden, then Sunday back to Lake Charles and to Texas City and home. Long trip worth everything for the chance to be with the family.

Lacy Lynn Lowery, Daughter of Norman and Sandy Lowery graduated Orangefield High School May 24th 2007, I know she is proud to be finished with the first step into life. Norm and Sandy I am sure are both relieved to know that one of their children has passed another milepost in life. I take pride in knowing my childrens, children are doing well even though life throws stumbling blocks in their way at every turn in life.

Jim and Marie's Daughter Jennifer graduated college May 14th, Good luck to you Jennifer I know you and your family are happy.

Good news is abundant! Knee surgury was good, repaired 2 cartledge tears, we are gona start walking more now that I can put weight on it, thats great.

During my incarceration to my "office" since July until my subsequent release in January, My Desk, Bed, bathroom and doctor visits have been my surroundings. Quite to my Surprise My "Stepling" Tammy sent me a bear to keep me company. He usually sits on top of my Computer, but this time I let him stand in front of my screen on my cluttered desk. He has not started talking yet but when he does, I'll Hang it up!! Have a great new week of this glorious new year.

The Ant and the Grasshopper

OLD VERSION:
The ant works hard in the withering Kansas heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the short winter.
The grasshopper thinks he's a fool and laughs and dances and plays the Summer away. Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed. The grasshopper has no food or shelter, so he dies out in the cold.

MORAL OF THE ORIGINAL STORY: Be responsible for yourself!

MODERN VERSION:
The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.
The grasshopper thinks he's a fool and laughs and dances and plays the Summer away. Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while others are cold and starving.
CBC, NBS and ABS show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food.
America is stunned by the sharp contrast. How can this be, that in our country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?
Hermit the Frog appears on Okrah with the grasshopper and everybody cries when they sing, "It's not easy being green."
Jesse Jaccson stages a demonstration in front of the ant's house where the news stations film the group singing "We shall overcome." Jesse then has the group kneel down to pray to God for the grasshopper's sake.
Tom Dacchle & John Kerpy exclaim in an interview with Peter Jenkings that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper, and both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his "fair share."
Finally, the EEOC drafts the "Economic Equity and Anti-Grasshopper Act," retroactive to the beginning of the summer. The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the government.
Billary gets her old law firm to represent the grasshopper in a defamation suit against the ant, and the case is tried before a panel of federal judges that Bill appointed from a list of single-parent welfare recipients. The ant loses the case.
The story ends as we see the grasshopper finishing up the last bits of the ant's food while the government house he is in, which just happens to be the ant's old house, crumbles around him because he doesn't ! maintain it.

The ant has disappeared in the snow.

The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident, and the house, now abandoned, is taken over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the once peaceful neighborhood.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Work hard all your life, save, plan for the future and the politicians will find a way to get it and give it to others.

Got a note from Marianne Ford entered a project in a science fair, A levitation train, he researched it on the internet and with the help of his Dad built it entered it and got overall honorable mention for his work. Great, Its not if you win or lose, its how you play the game keep up the good work Ford.

Earlier this year Ed, Marianne and Ford went on a short vacation, Boston to see some snow, well at first there was none but the bottom fell out and they were not disappointed.

Howdy all, guess I am writing this to myself, as my west coast niece, Mary, and my Arizona Granddaughter Beth have left comments! So if you leave a comment I'll put it up. If you want to add to the blog- let me know and I'll put your name on the list.

Well the 7th rolled around and talked to my Doctor, too bad, it's going to be at least till 5th of June till I can be cleared to drive. I also need to get my knee fixed so I can work. Dont get me wrong, I dont feel sorry for myself, just getting restless. I am doing some Avionics thingys and helping a calibration lab get set up for some new certifications and equipment. looking forward to June.

OH June The BIG 73, Reunion is susposed to be in Naples Fla will find out more. Till then have a wonderful life

Ms Nancy and I have been married 26 years. A very good 26 years it's been, looking forward to many more. 7th of march hopefully will get a clearance from my doctor to drive again.

It's been a while since I first wrote, the first of the year to be exact. I am still in recovery from hip replacement, "the third tile called "REVISION" it's going on 8 months and nothing has went well, But I am improving and for an old guy, I am still getting around with the help of my extra

4 legs and loving care of my wife nancy, without her I would be stuck in the chair, but I am out and trying to help all I can to keep up our living standard for us our two old cats and Two big dogs. Any way we are going to make it.

Son Norman and Sandy are doing well, Daughter Chelsey presented them with a daughter Catalina and aare doing fine and moved into their own home. Lacey has grown up and is a very Beautiful young lady. Norm and Sandy I know are very proud.

Had a visit from Grandson William (US NAVY) Stationed in Hawaii, Guided Missile cruiser. We had a nice visit, We are very proud of him. Grandson Brad, US Navy assigned to the Aircraft carrier George Washington, we had a nice visit during the holidays also. Then Grand daughter

Anneta (US NAVY) stationed in California as a SEABEE, visited at some point during the holidays. Beth the oldest grand daughter has called me many times the last few months and kept me posted as to our three Great Grand Daughters are doing. Ben, Beths Husband graduated from Motorcycle school and is a certified Motorcycle Mechanic now. They plan to re-settle near The Houston area April or May of this year.

Son Jim Called at some time earlier this year, just to chat, Marie is doing well, Christopher is in the mid west trying to make a living, Jason is in china on a construction project and Jennifer is completing collegesoon and will be going to work.

Son Rick Had an Eye problem Jim told me about that, I havent heard from rick and his family for a spell and hope they are all doing well.

Son Edward, Marieanne and son Ford are still trying to repair the damages caused by Rita and Katrina, now a new storm took out his new garage and workshop, I think I would think about moving.

I know this is boring for some, but to my family, I love you very much, to anyone else visiting, enjoy the trip, we are not there yet.

Old friends have special places in everone's life. I'll spot light my friends one at a time as I think of them. On to Number one. I meet Lloyd Godsey, at our Marine Electronics Company office late 1975 or early 1976, Pt Neches, Tx. Lloyd was selling some whiz bang marine electronic gizmo, we bought our stock, that started it all. I guess it was ment to be and sometime after that, Lloyd came to work for us. In March of 1978 the B-17 "Texas Raiders" was brought to for Radio installations, the installations worked well, and the aircraft flew off into the blue for the Air Show Circuit 1978. I sold the business the end of the year and left town for a while.

I came back to Pt Arthur, and worked for Offshore Helicopters, soon to be Bristow Offshore at Sabine Pass. I started looking for someone to help out, I hired Gary Painton, another story. Then in pops Lloyd again. I left Bristow in April 1980, Lloyd stayed till their closure.

Lloyd and I both have moved a bunch since the 80's but somehow kept in touch I'm in Houston, he is in Mesa, were both trying to retire, we both know we wont but we keep hoping, one day!
